Southwire Surge Guard (portable LCD) error code REVERSE POLARITY
L1 or L2 wired to neutral or ground (a miswired source), shown with the red CAUTION light. The manual adds that current or voltage on the ground conductor is ALSO displayed as REVERSE POLARITY, so this message can come from current to ground, not only from a reversed pedestal. The message stays until the condition is corrected. CONFLICT (logged): the operating manuals say the caution/polarity protection 'will prevent power on 50 amp unit only', while troubleshooting guide 506-00022A (written for the 30A 34930) says Surge Guard devices will not connect power until the reverse polarity is corrected. Treat it as a no-use condition on either model.
What to check, and in what order, is in the app. The flow Southwire Surge Guard portable - LCD message to cause (pedestal, coach or unit) walks this code step by step with the pass/fail measurements, wiring schematics and procedures that go with it, and it works offline in the bay.
