MALFUNCTION ALARM (40 series): the microprocessor detected a fault in the detector's operation. The LED alternately flashes red and green and the sounder beeps TWICE every 15 seconds. The Mute switch will not function. The manual's instruction is to remove the detector immediately and return it for repair or replacement. (Unlike other series, this manual does not tie the malfunction signal to low voltage; its low-power floor is 7 VDC, 7-16 VDC operational.)
