Southwire Surge Guard (portable LCD) error code OPEN NEUTRAL
Open neutral on the coach side (LCD table wording). Southwire's training manual says the coach-side ('RV side') open neutral protection is on the 50A models only and covers a break in the neutral from the Surge Guard output to the RV's main breaker panel. On a 120/240 V 50A system a lost neutral turns the split 120 V system into a 240 V loop: one leg swings high and the other low, damaging 120 V equipment. Southwire's checks: all input wiring to the Surge Guard, the shore power cord, generator wiring, and any adapter reducing to 120V 20A service.
What to check, and in what order, is in the app. The flow Southwire Surge Guard portable - LCD message to cause (pedestal, coach or unit) walks this code step by step with the pass/fail measurements, wiring schematics and procedures that go with it, and it works offline in the bay.
